Who should attend: Lawyers who wish to act as family arbitrators, individuals including lawyers and mental health professionals needing family arbitration training as part of their parenting coordinator requirements, and financial professionals who want to offer arbitration services to their clients.

Learning level: All levels

This 40-hour workshop is designed to satisfy the educational requirements of the Family Law Act for those wishing to practice as family arbitrators or needing family arbitration training as part of their parenting coordinator requirements. The lectures, exercises, and role plays will give you the opportunity to develop the skills to conduct family law arbitrations in accordance with the new Act. Family law experts will participate as guest lecturers and coaches. A copy of the Arbitration Practice Handbook (published by the ADR Institute of Canada), which contains valuable precedents and checklists, will be included as part of the course materials.

Don't miss this exciting opportunity to hear from Lorne Wolfson, a leading family law practitioner and author of Family Mediation, Arbitration and Collaborative Practice Handbook, 5th Edition (Lexis Nexis, 2009). Mr. Wolfson will be participating in the training via video conferencing.

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 40 hours (a minimum of 2 hours will involve aspects of professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
