Joy Tataryn, a CLEBC Legal Editor, is a second-generation settler, of Ukrainian and German Mennonite ancestry, living and working on Coast Salish land who grew up in Treaty One territory and on the homeland of the Métis Nation. She obtained her LLB from UBC in 1996 and was called to the BC Bar in 1997. She was one of the first group of student clinicians in UBC’s Indigenous Community Legal Clinic in 1995. Joy earned a BA (Adv) from the University of Manitoba in 1984, with a major in Labour Studies. She has been an editor and writer all her life in various roles and capacities.
