“OUR HERITAGE PROGRAM HELPS US TO UNDERSTAND WHO WE ARE AND HOW TO LIVE. WE KNOW THAT THERE IS AN URGENT NEED to protect Indigenous heritage, now and into the future.”

So writes the First Peoples’ Cultural Council (FPCC) on its website providing information about Heritage grants and programs currently accepting applications (see below). The site provides information videos and other details about each program, and contact information of FPCC staff members who can help. Late applications will not be considered, so apply now!

The Braided Knowledge grant application deadline is March 15, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

  • According to the FPCC, “Braided Knowledge Weaving B.C. First Nations’ Knowledge Through Generations”, the first grant of its kind in Canada, “supports work where arts, languages, cultures and heritage are connected and aligned with Indigenous ways of knowing and being.”
  • “The objective of the Braided Knowledge Grant is to fund projects that show the connected nature of Indigenous arts, languages, cultures and heritage.”

The Heritage Stewardship Program grant application deadline is March 22, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

  • This FPCC program “provides heritage funding to First Nations organizations in B.C. to address climate change, safeguard cultural sites, digitize cultural resources and record oral histories.”

The Heritage Infrastructure Program grant application deadline is April 5, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

  • This FPCC program “provides heritage funding to support projects that conserve, repair or develop Indigenous heritage infrastructure.”
