Who should attend: Lawyers practicing family law

Learning level: Fundamental/Intermediate

Practicing family law in Provincial Court comes with its own set of rules, jurisdictional considerations, and challenges.

This course will cover a wide range of procedural, evidentiary, trial preparation, and advocacy topics. Hear an update on the Provincial Court Family Rules and Forms.

You will increase your competence and confidence in handling family law matters in the Provincial Court forum. 

After taking this program, you will:

  • understand how to manage a Provincial Court family file
  • gain knowledge of Provincial Court and Supreme Court options
  • know how to navigate a child protection case
  • have an update on BCFMA
  • be aware of tools to deal with family violence
  • receive practice tips from family law practitioners

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 6 hours (this course will contain a minimum of 1 hour pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
