Who should attend: Personal injury counsel, both plaintiff and defence; insurance counsel

Learning level: Intermediate

Building on the 2022 and 2023 programs, the 2025 Sexual Violence (Civil) Conference agenda offers fresh insight into evidentiary challenges, the difficulty of intersecting criminal and civil proceedings, recent case law pushing the boundaries of vicarious liability, and an update on the evolution of damages assessments.

Special focus will be given to understanding PTSD as a neurobiological injury, the practical benefits of trauma-informed defence lawyering, and how to prioritize one's own well-being while advocating in this challenging and emotionally charged area of practice.

With contributions from leading counsel, medical experts, and an LAPBC counsellor, this course is a must-attend for counsel practising on either side of the proverbial fence in this rapidly evolving area of the law.

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 6 hours (this course will contain a minimum of 1 hour pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
